About Department: The department of Geography is located on the second floor of the science building of Chakdaha College. The department of Geography at Chakdaha College was started in 1997. At the time of initiation the B.A./B.Sc. general course was being taught and 20 students were admitted. They all qualified with the good performance. Later the number of intake capacity was increased. Honours Course was started in 2011 with 16 students. Now the total no of students in Hons course is about 95. At present one Assistant Professor (Dr. Iftikar Alam) and six (6) Guest Lecturers are working in the department. The admission process is on the basis of merit. The whole process is a centrally controlled process. Regarding the reservation of the seats of SC, ST and OBC candidates the college follows the guidelines of the University of Kalyani.
