About Department: The Department of Economics started its academic journey from the very inception of the College. Primarily, this department was initiated with UG General Course in 1972 afterwards, in1995 it received affiliation for UG Honours Course. There are two (out of four sanctioned posts) full-time faculty members, one Part-Time Teacher and four as Guest Teacher in the department. In this connection, it may be noted that Mrs. Kabita Basu. Mr. Mihir Sinha Ray and Smt. Swagata Pal, our full-time faculty members, retired from their services on May, 2005; July, 2007 and September, 2008 respectively. The faculties of the department are intensively engaged in active teaching and research work and also published papers in reputed journals/books regularly. A good number of books and journals relating to Economics are available for the students in our Central Library and the Departmental Library. Most of the students of the department are either well-established in different fields or engaged in research work/higher studies in reputed Universities and Institutions.
